StewReads terms, explained

A quick guide to the words you'll see around StewReads: what each kind of item is, what you can do with it, and what you can share.

1. Your library

Read (ebook)
A long-form ebook StewReads writes from a topic or an AI conversation, created here or from a connected AI client. Reads live in Your Reads. They're the only items that can have audiobooks, be sent by email or to Kindle, or be shared publicly.
Brief
A one-page document capturing a single idea from a conversation, saved from a connected AI client. Briefs live in Your Briefs. You can read them, copy them or download them as PDF. They don't have audio, can't be sent by email or to Kindle, and can't be shared.
Codes
The library tab for work saved from coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, grouped by the tool that saved it. It holds handoffs and dev documents.
Handoff (coding context)
A snapshot of a coding session: decisions made, files touched, open questions and next steps. Use it to pick the work up later, or in a different AI client.
Dev document
A working document from a coding session, such as a plan, audit, design note, review or prompt. Each one is labelled by its purpose, for example Plan or Audit.
Imported EPUB
An EPUB file saved to StewReads as-is from an AI client such as ChatGPT, instead of being written by StewReads. It appears in Your Reads marked “Imported EPUB”, where you can read it and download the original file. Imported EPUBs can't have audiobooks, be emailed, be added to collections or be shared.
Collection
Your own set of related reads, briefs and codes, for a project, course or theme. An item can be in several collections, and removing it from one doesn't delete it.

2. Sharing

Original ebook
A read StewReads generated for you, whether you created it here or from a connected AI client. Briefs, codes, imported EPUBs and ebooks you saved from someone else's link aren't original ebooks. Only original ebooks can be shared, on their own or through a collection.
Recipient saves
The count in the Share panel. For an ebook link, it's how many people have saved a copy. For a collection link, it's how many have saved the collection.
Revoke
Turns a share link off. Anyone who opens it afterwards sees that it's no longer available. Copies people already saved stay in their libraries. If you share again, you get a new link.

3. Listening and delivery

Audiobook
A narrated version of a read. Choose Generate audiobook on a read, or turn on Automatically generate audiobooks in Profile → Preferences to get audio for new ebooks. Briefs, codes and imported EPUBs don't have audiobooks.
Email and Kindle delivery
StewReads can send a read as an EPUB to your email or your Kindle. Use Email this read, or turn on Auto-send generated ebooks to deliver new ones automatically. Kindle needs a one-time setup: Send StewReads ebooks to Kindle.

4. AI clients

AI client
An AI app such as ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Codex or Cursor. Once it's connected, you can ask it to save your conversation to StewReads as a read, brief, handoff or dev document. The AI Clients page shows what each connected client has created.
MCP
Model Context Protocol, the open standard AI clients use to connect to services like StewReads. Setup: Connect StewReads to an AI client.
Stew
What we call turning a conversation or topic into a read. In a connected AI client, type /stew or ask it to “send this to Stew”.
